mismatched bridesmaids?

I have seven bridesmaids who are a vast range of sizes (0 - 24) and colors (redhead, brunette, blonde, pink, olive). Needless to say, there is not a single color or style that will flatter all of them. Have any of you ever had/seen bridesmaids who wore different styles and colors? I want them to all wear floor length dresses made of satin with some sort of straps/cap sleeves, but aside from that I am considering letting each choose her own color and style. Would this look weird?

EDIT: They would all be in some shade of pink. I forgot to clarify that.

I think it would look disorganized especially because there will be 7 different colors and dresses. What about having them all wear black - but in whatever style they want....just about everyone looks good in black......or have every other one wear the same color (red, blue, red, blue, red, blue, red or something to that effect)

I forgot to specify - I would tell everyone some shade of pink.

As far as back goes, personally I am not wild about the idea of black for a June wedding, and three of the girls never wear black, so I had not even thought of it...but it would certainly be easy to find something!

I think all different shades of the same color would be pretty....especially if you had lots of shades of that color in your bouquet too.

well shades of pink greatly vary. what about if you went to davids bridal and picked the exact same color and told them they could all pick their own dress?

agreed. i think it would look great if they all wore the same color, but different styles. that way no one looks like an overstuffed sausage, and no one looks like she's wearing a potato sack (which will happen if everyone is stuck wearing a dress that does not compliment her body type). lots of people do this - it isn't weird at all.

The color is what most are complaining about...damn those redheads!:)

If that's the case, a little flattery will get you far: tell the offending redhead that you picked pink just to fug her up a bit, so that she wouldn't look prettier than the bride.

lol, she is a model, so it could be a valid concern.

I feel your pain. We just decided on a date last week, and now I have 6 females from 5' and size 2 to 5'7" and size 22 all wanting to know "What are we wearing?"
I sat down and sketched out some ideas, and I think I'm leaning towards steering them to a bridal shop and letting them pick separates, and having them all wear matching black satin waist cinchers to match my dress (the top will be a black satin corset). I'm not adverse to having more than one shade, I want them to be happy - but - they better all look good and not clash too much for the pictures ;).
